There’s a myth about the self-made man that has been around since the eighteenth century. Synonymous with the “rags to riches” story, the idea is that a person can succeed through his or her own ingenuity and hard work. The idea is also the underpinnings of “The American Dream.”

While it’s true that personal success takes personal effort, the reality is that no one ever succeeded without at least one helping hand, whether a rich relative, a kind boss, a wise educator, or even a friend who had your back.

I’ve been fortunate in finding helping hands along the way. Please check my resources page for a list of professionals who have made a difference on my path to success. I hope you find this list helpful as well.

If you visit anyone on my list, please tell them Sheryl said, “Hi!”
